Hi, I'm Bianca
My creative journey began during one of the most challenging periods of my life, when I was navigating my own mental health. I found something unexpected in the quiet grounding power of craft. What started with crochet became a lifelong passion for design, sewing, storytelling and sustainability. For the kind of slow, intentional making that feels like an act of resistance in a world that moves so fast. That quiet act of making evolved into something far greater: a lifelong passion for sewing, storytelling, sustainability and activism.
I grew up watching my grandmother, an immigrant who moved to Australia with the hope for a better life, sew. Resources were scarce but she was always the most elegant woman in any room to me - because she made everything herself from whatever fabric she could find. She stitched together not just clothes, but an identity, a life and a legacy.
She taught me that craft is culture, memory, and the language of women who had to be resourceful to be resilient, who refused to let circumstance diminish their pride.
Blanca Sewing Co. was created to honour the lineage of the makers who came before us, to celebrate the power of handmade, champion slow fashion in an age of overconsumption and trends, and to connect people to craft by sharing original designs with a new generation of makers.
