Welcome to the creative community of a slow fashion brand: finding calm in craft and purpose in personal style

Blanca Sewing co. was founded because I believe that the clothes you wear should tell a story about the future of the world you want to live in — one woven with intention, creativity, and care. Blanca is a purpose-led creative brand designing made-to-order slow fashion garments and hand-crafted crochet patterns that celebrate individuality, sustainability, and the power of community.

In a world that moves so fast, I want to allow you to slow down. Every piece is made to order - designed thoughtfully, produced responsibly, and crafted to last. Our approach to slow fashion goes beyond trends, it’s about cherishing the process, respecting the planet, and making garments that feel as good as they look.

By choosing sustainable, handmade clothing, you’re supporting a movement that values creativity over consumption, quality over quantity, and people over profit. Each stitch, pattern, and fabric choice reflects a commitment to mindful making: fashion with purpose.

I believe there is magic in making. Whether it’s the rhythm of crochet, the meditative flow of sewing, or the quiet joy of sketching out new designs, craft is a form of healing. It connects us to ourselves and to others, offering a moment of calm in an often chaotic world. I found crochet at a time when I was struggling with my mental health, and this process really helped me find calm and a purpose when my mind was otherwise racing.

I built this brand to share my skills and knowledge as an artist and award nominated costume designer. Through our crochet patterns, creative tutorials, and workshops, I invite you to slow down, make something with your hands, and rediscover the joy of creating.

More than a brand, Blanca is a community of makers, dreamers, and doers. I believe in sharing skills, supporting each other’s creativity, and celebrating handmade artistry in all its forms. Whether you’re an experienced maker or just beginning your creative journey, you are welcome here.

I’m passionate about open conversation, shared learning, and the idea that everyone has something beautiful to contribute. Together, we can reimagine what fashion and creativity look like as more inclusive, more sustainable, and more connected.

Blanca Sewing co. is dedicated to the memory of my grandmother (Oma in Dutch) who immigrated to Australia with a dream of a better life. She never had a lot of money but was always the most elegant and stylish woman that I knew. She took great pride in the clothes that she made from the resources that she had out of necessity. I am living proof that dreams come true. To my Oma and  to all immigrant women: their resilience, the way they carry their culture and history - not just in their hearts but in their hands. This is at the core of everything we create. For the women who crossed oceans, built families, homes and communities from nothing, and never forgot where they came from.

In the spirit of sharing, and through something that connects us all to our heritage as well as craft, I extend to you a page out of my cookbook. On one side, two of my Nonna’s recipe’s that she is most well known for - her homemade Limoncello, and her iconic sponge cake. On the other side, my Oma’s Marzipan recipe, written in her handwriting, and Ollebollen - a Dutch sweet donut style ball traditionally made on New Year’s Eve, best eaten while they are hot and dusted in icing sugar.
